Types of Savings Accounts
We are faced with a wide array of choices when it comes to savings accounts. If one doesn't know anything about how savings accounts work of the types that are available to them, it may seem overwhelming. A brief trip to your bank can clear up the uncertainties that you might experience when deciding on the savings account types that are for you and the advantages and disadvantages of each. This article about savings accounts is meant to give you a brief overview and is not a substitute for the advice of your banker. The key to this is to find a savings account that suits your needs and meets or exceeds your expectations. Look intently at the features of each type of account and make sure to ask if there are any fees or minimum balance requirements. Consider all aspects of each major bank's savings plans and go from there. I personally find savings accounts without monthly fees much more appealing that the ones with monthly fees for obvious reasons. I find fees to be unsettling - especially when I can't come up with a logical reason as to why they should charge bank fees. Take a quick tour of all the major banks in your locality and don't forget to visit the credit unions too. Often, credit unions provide you with better terms and aren't as irritatingly bureaucratic and unfriendly as the large banks are. Remember to visit Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Bank of the West, US Bank, and any other banks that offer savings accounts in your area. You might be able to find information on a Chase savings account or a Wells Fargo savings account on their respective websites. Same with Bank of America, US Bank, Bank of the West and maybe even your local credit union savings accounts. Google them to find out; you may not have to step foot in their lobby for your research.
